Water glare, salt air and west-facing glass
On the canals in MiraBay and Symphony Isles the back of the house is mostly glass and it faces water. Reflected light off the surface is a second sun, and it arrives lower and harsher than the one overhead, which is why standard curtains never quite fix the afternoon in these homes. A 3 to 5 percent solar screen fabric cuts the glare and the heat while leaving the water view completely intact — you keep the reason you bought the house.
Salt air is the other thing nobody warns you about. Chain-driven clutches and bare steel parts corrode fast this close to the bay. We spec sealed motors and corrosion-resistant components on anything mounted on the water side, and for outdoor zipper track we use marine-grade hardware. It costs a little more and it is the difference between five years and eighteen months.

Apollo Beach questions
Will a solar shade still let me see the canal?
Yes, that is the whole point of them. A 3 to 5 percent openness fabric keeps the view sharp while cutting the glare and a real share of the heat. Denser fabrics give more privacy but soften the view — we bring samples so you can hold them against your own window.
Does the salt air damage motorized shades?
It can, if the wrong hardware goes up. On the water side we spec sealed motors and corrosion-resistant brackets, and marine-grade hardware on anything outdoors. Ask any installer what they are using — if they cannot answer, that is your answer.
Do you cover MiraBay and Waterset?
