West Miramar went up on open land, so there is very little tree cover and nothing between your west windows and the afternoon. Solar screen fabric is the most cost-effective thing you can put on that glass — it rejects a real share of the solar heat before it enters the room, which the air conditioning then does not have to remove.
These are also newer homes with big rear sliders onto a patio that gets the same unfiltered sun. Motorized zipper track outside the patio is what makes that space usable between May and October, and it also keeps the rain out of the furniture during afternoon storms, which in this part of Broward is most days in summer.

Will solar shades lower my electric bill?
They reduce the solar heat entering the room, which reduces what the air conditioning has to remove. The effect is biggest on unshaded west and south glass, which is most of west Miramar.
